Military Marching Band Marches

Ideal college for Ideal job?
“Ideally” I would like to be able to join a military service, and become a commissioned officer and fly rotary wing aircraft. I’m currently in my summer of my senior year
Background-Out of the services, I would prefer to join the Marines or the Coast Guard (My father is being promoted to Lt. Col next year, he’s a marine, and it would definitely please him and myself if I could fly for the core). Being a marine brat, I don’t really want to join the Army or Navy.
I am an A/B student, all of my core classes are AP classes and my strong points are in Science and Math. I play soccer outside of school, and I have also been a Marching Band member all 4 years of high school. So is it possible to be accepted into the CG/Naval Academy? Or should I go to a civilian college such as Virginia Tech, and participate in an ROTC program and then go to OCS/etc, after graduation?
What would you do in my situation?
Trust me you definitely want to go to college first and join the ROTC program. That will give you a little taste of the military life and if you don’t like it you always have the option of changing that.
Now if you join the military, your locked in until your term expires. There is no way out unless, you do something wrong, get hurt, or something even worse than that.
Bottomline, is when you join the military, you can still go to school, but it’s going to be limited, depending on your mission. You don’t want to regret not going straight to college and at least taking the opportunity, to see if this is something you really want. It’s your decision, so do what you think is BEST for you, not your Dad or anyone else. Look in your heart, Seriously!
