Classic American Football Game – Remember?

I am trying to remember the details about an American football game. I don’t remember the teams. I don’t even remember whether it was a college game of the NFL (but I think it was a televised NFL game). It may have been in the 1980s. The game was memorable because it was down to the last few seconds. Team A was winning with maybe 5 seconds on the clock. In fact, their marching band had already come down onto the field and started playing the victory song. Then the team fumbled and the other team ran through the marching band all the way to the end zone for a winning touchdown. It was a legitimate play because there was still time on the clock. So the team which everyone thought had lost then became the winner. And the team whose band had taken the field was the loser. It was amazing. Does anyone remember this game? Thanks.

All of what you said was the Stanford/Cal game except when you said the one team fumbled and the other team ran through… and scored the winning touchdown. There was no fumble, just a bunch of laterals in amongst the SAME teammates with the end result just as you had remembered.
