But, attractions like Rose Bowl in the region may make music-lovers fall in love with the sports event the Venue brings for them. Pasadena hosts year-round entertainment and sports events while several entertainment entities actively take part to enhance and promote its cultural events. One among such blocks is Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is known mainly for the New Year’s Day football game, but other events are also featured at the place.

The Rose Bowl History is closely intertwined with Pasadena, California’s Tournament of Roses. Tournament of Roses is a grand celebration of life, and the New Year that originally staged in 1890. It was to promote the town and draw new residents from the snowy east. During the following few years, the festival of Tournament of Roses expanded to include marching bands and motorized floats. The year 1895 saw the formation of the Tournament of Roses Association who took charge of the Rose Bowl festival. After 7 years of its inception, Tournament of Roses decided to enhance the day’s festivities by adding a football game. It was the first post season college football game ever held.

Football game led the Association to look for a site that would be large enough to accommodate the patrons who wished to see football games. The Rose Bowl was designed by architect Myron Hunt who was influenced by the Yale Bowl. In 1921, it was decided that building should commence, and the design of the stadium was intended to accommodate as many patrons as possible, sitting close to the action. The facility was under construction from 1921-1922 and it was not before January 1923 did it open its doors for the public. With a capacity of seating 57,000, the Rose Bowl featured its first football game played between the University of California Bears and the University of Southern California Trojans. In 1929, the south end of the Super Bowl was closed, giving the structure its famous, sight line-enhancing elliptical shape. The Tournament of Roses at Rose Bowl has come a long way since its early days. The year-long effort pays off on New Year’s morning, when millions of viewers enjoy the Rose Parade. The Rose Parade’s elaborate floats feature high-tech computerized animation and other exotic natural materials from around the world that truly appeal. In addition to it, the Rose Bowl is also one of four rotating hosts of the BCS National Championship Game.

In addition to hosting five NFL Super Bowl Games, the 1994 Men’s World Cup, and the 1999 Women’s World Cup, the Rose Bowl Stadium features a lot to get hooked on. It is home to UCLA football, Fourth of July celebrations, concerts, religious services, and the world’s largest flea market (R.G. Canning). With a capacity of over 90,000 seats, the Rose Bowl continues to be the model for stadiums throughout the United States due to the stadium’s continued emphasis on patron comfort, event scheduling and community involvement. The Super Bowl Stadium will host the BCS National Championship Game in 2010.
